This was announced in a consultative meeting, held here on Friday with secretary Ministry of Local Government Syed Mohsin Asad in chair.
The meeting was organised by the Ministry of Local Government in collaboration with the UNDP.
Musalihat Anjuman project was initiated by Gender Support Programme (GSP), under UNDP with the allocation of 1 million dollars to provide support to victims of violence and other community disputes.
Presenting the salient features of the project, UNDP Gender chief Faiza Effendi said, "Musalihat Anjuman is a mechanism proposed by the Local Government Ordinance to serve as a community based, informal and accessible system of legal and community support."
The project, she said, would build the capacity of the Musalihat Anjuman to dispense gender-responsive justice at the community level.
She maintained that the Musalihat Anjumans would enhance public engagement with their services, promote women's awareness about their legal rights and men' s active participation in curbing violence.
The meeting was attended by former Justice Majida Rizvi , Chairperson National Commission on the Status of Women, former Justice Amjad, member National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB), deputy secretary Ministry of Women Development Sultan Khan, deputy secretary R&D Mohammad Anwar Golra, senior joint secretary Law Zakir Jauhar, UNDP Gender chief Faiza Effendi and sector police officials.
